Spiritual_Arsonist
What is the Liturgy of the hours is it just and hourly prayer or something??? P.S. Yo Quiero Taco Bell The LOTH is the official prayer of the Catholic Church. We have been praying it since the early times. The LOTH has undergone revisions through the centuries, the most recent one being in the seventies. The hours include: Office of readings Morning prayer 3 sets of daytime prayer Evening prayer Night prayer The only hour not assigned an hour is the office of readings. At all hours, there is a hymn, 3 psalms, responsories, a reading from the Bible, intercessions, and prayers. If you have time, I recommend this excellent prayer. Thousands of ppl in your own time one are literally praying the same thing, and chanting it in choir is even better.

the_rev
HOw do you go about getting the Liturgy of hours? Isn't it in the Divine office?
Pio Nono
JMJ 1/14 - First Wednesday The Divine Office is a high-falootin' term (and shorter to type) for the Liturgy of the Hours. It's difficult to go through HOW to pray, but it is essentially the praying the psalms. If you're interested in praying the Office, ask your friendly neighborhood seminarian or priest. PatrickRitaMichael
The Divine Office is so big. I have only 1 volume (there are 4 whole volumes!! so many prayers!) from a nice sister at the Monastery of the Blessed Sacrament. Since that was only up until Advent I had to stop. I tried to do it as best as I could but I have to agree, the page flipping and order of things baffles me. I am not that organized so I sometimes would just look at what I GUESSED was the right stuff. It is a very good prayer book though and it's comforting to know that there are Catholics who pray it all throughout the day. Thank God for all those faithful people! track2004
When I have prayed the Hours I love them. I don't have the book though (need to buy one) so I can pray them every day. Everytime I am somewhere and we do pray them I get all excited because they focus me so much and I love it!
BLAZEr
If you ignore the feasts and don't do Office of readings, then the Divine Office is easy fo sheezy . .. However, if you were ever a seminarian or had one as a teacher then you are a ribbon flipping, page turning, optional memorial celebrating, Invitatory singing foolio . . . I used to pray the LOTH every day . . . and then I got lazy and started going it part time and now sloth has set in completely and I do it when I feel really really guilty . . . Course, I'm not bound to do it . .. but it still makes me feel guilty
