Jake Huether
I was just pondering the connection: When the two become one flesh (via intercourse), part of this becoming "one flesh" has to do with the openness for new life. When a child is concieved, truly the two do become one flesh. and truly when a married couple divorces, is it not the child who is torn apart? I was just considering the connection. Spiritually the man and woman become "one flesh". But physically they also do upon conception. can anyone add to this. Or am I just loco?
cmotherofpirl
THe becoming one flesh starts with intercourse and does not wait until conception occurs. I don't think you are loco at all. :)
cmotherofpirl
There is a wonderful study of theology of the Body being done over at catholicity.com email groups:TOTB. It is run by Father Hogan. It is extensive and detailed, but you might enjoy it.
Guest Legion
That is a excellent line of thought. I never thought of it that way. Who would want to tear their child apart? To follow CMom there is another site called Theologyofthebody.org I just ran across. Not sure about its orthodoxy, havn't read into it yet.
