N/A Gone
I got a reply today. A lady named Virgina Garrision. She reflected a concern in the GPA, I expressed my situation and that my theology courses still had a high GPA and I will have good references. I also mentioned Micah and Nick. a lil name dropping never hurt anyone. Hope you guys dont mind. Nick, WHile spending amazing amounts of time researching FUS, StU and SP-MAT; FUS has clearly jumped ahead of both of the other programs. The St. Thomas program is more of a cultural program, and the theology available has not impressed me. Also, I take to heart what my priest said, but honestly, Im tired of having to sort through what I am being taught and needing to constantly argue. I would cherish the chance to be taught. Sat down and taught. I have learned more on this board and through the reading recommended (*and my own book addiction) than I have while at CRC. If you guys are a product of FUS than that is what I want. I want to be taught the faith. Any help you guys can give me would be great..buy her flowers..talk about how pretty I am..whatever works. Oh, she mentioned that the Ma Theo and the Catechistics are different and the Catechistics would be extra credits. What exactly is the practical difference? thessalonian
Rev, There are still problems at ST. But it is producing some excellent preists. I think it has greatly improved and is still improving. I know the spiritual director for the young seminarians. He is rock solid. I don't think it is a bad theological school but likely has some tenured professors who have not been flushed out yet. It was bad in the 80's and early nineties I believe.
theology is more speculative. it deals with the essentials, but it also mulls over the mysteries of the faith and those aspects of belief that are still up for debate. catechetics, on the other hand, is the science and art of how to teach people the faith. it is concerned only with the essentials, with those things that every catholic must believe. you would want the M.A. in Theology if you want to go on to get a doctorate in theology, or if you want to be a theologian of some sort, or a bible scholar, of if you want to teach theology. you would want the M.A. in Theology, with a speicialization in Catechetics if you want to work at the parish or diocesan level (as a DRE, youth minister, RCIA teacher, bible study leader, etc.), or if you want to teach others how to teach the faith to people. theologians teach b/c they like to hear themselves talk. catechists teach for conversion :
N/A Gone
ur cute... Im a theologian, Maybe I havent learned this catholic-talk yet. But I know what I am, and what I can do when I learn this offense. If they can get by the GPA and I get accepted I think I will take it. They appear to not set money aside for living expenses, but we will see Thes...I feel ya there buddy. I have already got into disagreements with my friends professor on Augustine. That shouldnt happen. Keep me in your prayers..I want FUS
