Farsight one
I was wondering if there is a proper way to kneel. I know that if it is possible, that one should fully kneel with the knee touching the ground, which I do. But, recently I've noticed that other than that, I seem to naturally genuflect differently than others.
Cam42
I was wondering if there is a proper way to kneel. I know that if it is possible, that one should fully kneel with the knee touching the ground, which I do. But, recently I've noticed that other than that, I seem to naturally genuflect differently than others.
The two things are different. Genuflecting is a sign of adoration. It is done by lowering the right knee to the floor while flexing the left to compensate. HOWEVER, when one venerates the ring of a bishop, one will genuflect on his left knee, as to show deference to the Blessed Sacrament. Kneeling in a proper sense is a sign of submission. It is done by placing both knees on the ground, with the back straight. All of this is to be understood that if one is physically unable to do so then another form of adoration and submission should be shown, as long as it is respectful of the situation that one is in.
