homeschoolmom
Why do some people create such drama in their lives? Do they like sympathy?
Thy Geekdom Come
My goodness woman? Can't you just turn away from my poor, wretched, tortured soul if you must insist on mocking me with your sanctimonious platitudes?! : : : I think those who thrive on drama see their lives from the outside and want it to look interesting. Naturally, with all the drama on television, we think drama, depression, despair, and sarcasm are all quite interesting.
Azriel
Attention. Think they can't get it any other way, and negative attention is better than none. In some cases, anyway.
homeschoolmom
Good point. I think, too, that some people just like to be the center of attention and if it can't come with kudos, it will come with pity.

franciscanheart
Good point. I think, too, that some people just like to be the center of attention and if it can't come with kudos, it will come with pity.
And often times the more serious or sad situations (the ones that require pity) will supersede the ones that are worthy of praise. If you're suffering all the time (or creating drama and becoming a 'victim'), you are more likely to be receiving attention (of some kind) on a regular basis. The laid back folks who are cool and chill and that people genuinely like because they're not all about drama do get recognized and often do get attention to the point that they are the center, but not nearly as often as those who have something dramatic going on. There's my shot at answering the question. Even I got a little confused trying to say what I was thinking...

I just have to say a prayer and keep walking.

SanctifyMe
I think it has to do with every person's central need to be loved, it seems like every thing, good or bad somehow goes back to that, since we are all looking for God, and God is love~ it makes sense to me... but maybe that's just drama (haha!) Ash Wednesday
I second that. (and it's not drama.) People want love, i.e. attention. I've had a lot of drama in my life in the past few years, but it's all been uninvited drama. I'm sick of drama. IcePrincessKRS
I think *having* alot of drama is one thing, thats understandable and causes people to be sympathetic and care. (My friend Tiff is a drama magnet, things just HAPPEN to her.) Then there are those people who CREATE drama in their lives for attention or whatever... those people tend to get under my skin.
