College Transfer Planning

Next semester I will finish my associates degree. I would like to transfer to a four-year school as soon as I can, but I don't have a lot of money to afford it without scholarships and financial aid. I don't know if I should go to the most practical state school I was planning on, or a farther away Christian school, or a different school all together. I was planning on just going to the local state school, but then this professor that I know was suggesting that I think about what school I really want to go to and not just let things like money keep me from even trying. I don't know if I should apply for Fall or for Winter/Spring quater/semester or how I will pay for it.

I would really God's guidance and a good deal of discernment to clearly recognize where I should transfer to, when to apply, and how to do this.

Thank you.
