Don John of Austria
Would it be morally acceptable to colonize another world? Would it be okay to terraform say Venus( Mars really isn't big enough to terraform ) and settle people there. Now I reallize that the instinct here is to say yes of course however, God granted us dominion over Earth not over everything ( or is that inherintly included). Do we have the right to alter another world like that? Or if not should it happen that we find a habitable world and the means to get to it would it be morally acceptable to colonize it? Is that rejecting trust in Providence or just embracing the Universe which shows His glory? Comments.
hyperdulia again
IF the Planet is uninhabited I don't see the problem. I wonder about the Pope though for all those references to "human creatures" there's also one about Earth.
dUSt
I think an all-Catholic Mars would be dope. Let's start investing in a Vatican space fund.
Don John of Austria
Hyper I am asking on the supusition that the world is uninhabited, finding other creatures out there would require a great deal of discussion regarding there natures, and we have discussed that before. I am not asking would aliens be People or anything likethat just is it okay to abandon the home that God gave us in favor of another, is that rejecting his Gift, is it steping beyond the authority given to us, was dominion given to us over the Earth or over the Universe? Don John of Austria
Grin...sorry in advance.... Hey, without any Protestant's around, you guys will be totally believed! Couldn't resist. You can't even respond civily on a totally non- Partisan thread. This is about the stewardship of Man, and here when I saw you had posted to this thread I really thought you might have something intersesting to say, my mistake. PedroX
C'mom, I have and found it fascinating. There is a reason we call him great. Don, I've been thinking about your basic question all evening. I find it fascinating to ponder the "what ifs" of the stewardship question. I think often we(mankind) have failed in our stewardship either by grasping too lightly or too tightly. I worry that going off world might be grasping too much. Deuteronomy tells us that some mysteries are reserved for God alone. Too often we forget that in a mad race to eat more from the tree of knowledge. Too often we are like lemmings dashing off the cliff in hopes of reaching the unatainable knowledge. Ok, got to stop before the metaphors completely take over. (maybe the aliens already have!) peace...
