I couldn't believe it it when I heard about it. Father was just here yesterday (in Central California) at the Marian Eucharisitc conference. That is why he was at the airport, going to speak in FL next.

Father has touched many lives and is doing a powerful work for Our Lord. But it always comes with a price and right now now Fr. Groeschel is on the cross with Jesus. Continue to pray for him!

Oh no.

Praying, praying, praying.

Since I'm leaving tomorrow for the wilderness, it'll be so hard to be without news for 5 days.

Saint MARGUERITE BOURGEOUS, on this your featsday, ora pro Fr. Benedict.

go this in an email:

"According to Fr. Conrad, Fr. Groeshel suffered a

broken leg and arm, multiple body bruises, head injuries and a heart

attack as well. They resusitated him from the heart attack last night

and were not sure he would make it through the night but he did and

managed to regain semi-consciousness this morning. He is still

currently considered very serious and they are trying to control issues

of blood to the brain so

continue the prayers for him."

Two more emails I received re Fr. Groeschel....I thought this was especially touching...."Fr. Benedict was fond of saying "I'm ready to go. Now. Take me

Lord, out of this Valley of Tears." But like St. Paul, I'm sure that

he will be happy to toil on in God's service once he is healed. "To

live is Christ, to die is gain". "

Keep praying for that miracle! In Mary, Birgitta

Dear Friend,

I'm afraid I have some very bad news. As you may have already heard,

Fr. Benedict Groeschel, founder of the Franciscan Friars of the

Renewal in New York City and long-time friend of CRISIS, was struck

by a car last night and is now in the hospital in critical

condition.

Details are still sketchy, but sources say that Fr. Groeschel was

walking to a restaurant in Orlando when he was hit by a car near the

Orlando International Airport. He's now in intensive care at the

Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

We spoke with Fr. Groeschel's assistant this morning who confirmed

the news, saying that the situation didn't look good. "We need

nothing short of a miracle," she said.

At this point, the most important thing we can do is pray. The

Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) is broadcasting a Holy Hour

for him this morning, and Fr. Groeschel's assistant requested that we

ask for prayers from St. Francis, the founder of the order, and St.

Augustine, who has been Fr. Groeschel's favorite all his life.

Father Groeschel is one of the most powerful voices for the Church

in this country and around the world. Not only that, but he's been

absolutely selfless in his generosity to numerous Catholic

apostolates, including this one. I know you don't need any

encouragement from me to pray for this truly holy man.

I'm very sorry for the bad news, but I knew you'd want to be kept

informed. I'll let you know as soon as we learn anything new.

Best,

Deal

Dear Friends,

I am sorry to bring you unhappy news, but our dear Fr. Benedict

Groeschel CFR was hit by a car in Florida late Sunday evening. He is

apparently in critical, but stable condition. I would ask you to

please keep him in your prayers today and in the coming weeks until

he is hopefully recovered and given back to us.

I especially ask you to "Pray the Rosary with us", as Fr. Benedict

said in the "Rosary is a Place", and to enter into that spiritual

chapel of the Rosary where we can all be and unite our prayers before

our Blessed Mother.

Fr. Benedict was fond of saying "I'm ready to go. Now. Take me

Lord, out of this Valley of Tears." But like St. Paul, I'm sure that

he will be happy to toil on in God's service once he is healed. "To

live is Christ, to die is gain". Let's pray that he receives all the

care he needs and that God's blessings are upon him through his

recovery.

Yours truly in Christ,
