jswranch
No Jew ever worshipped the ark itself but what was in it. If any Jew worshipped the box or the golden cherubs on it, they would have been idolatrous. they worshipped the precense of God. Exd 40:34 ¶ Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. I don't think you want to use this one to exucse the bowing before statues lest you believe those statues have an actual precense in them,
Budge, Please name one Catholic on Phatmass who believes statues have an actual presence in them. You cannot do it. The Catholic Church teaches and believes that doing so is idolatry, which is a sin and can send one to hell.

It's never quite enough to disagree with our relationship with Mary. We must also denigrate her role. Sadly, that has extended to an indispensible part of the incarnation. Excellent illustration of insane opposition. Textbook.
thessalonian
In Josh 7 the elders and Joshua prostrate themselves before the Ark of the Covenant and pray THROUGH it to God. We pray through Mary to Jesus. Once one sees the link between the Ark and Mary, Catholic theology and practice on Mary fall out all over from the Bible. It's as clear as a sky blue day. The Ark preceeded them in to battle. It brought them to the river Jordan to cross in to the promised land. A forshadowing of baptism. Interestingly enough where they crossed the Jordan is said to be where Jesus was baptized. The ark was so pure that no man, not even the priests could touch it or they would fall dead. Perhaps I will say more later.
kenrockthefirst
What about the Incarnation? Dwelled in Mary? 9 months compared to 33 years?
BTW, isn't Jesus *still* in human form, albeit a glorified version? So that's, what, 2000+ years. Anyway, your point is...? thessalonian
Christ physically lived within Mary for 9 months. But that was not the limit of the time Christ was in her in the same way that Paul could say in Galations "Yet not I who live, but CHRIST LIVES IN ME". Christ was always living in Mary. Norseman82
The Ark of the Covenant carried the word of God - the Ten Commandments Mary carried the Word of God - Jesus Christ Also, I seem to remember a part of the OT where somebody was struck dead for touching the Ark when he was trying to steady it and keep it from falling.
