I'm gonna call Mother Cyril about a live in early next year [about january / february] I'm a little scared of having 'written' contact with the sisters as last time my parents saw 'Tyburn Priory' along the front of the envelope they went Do you know if the sisters in Sydney have an email? Just one more thing - the thing 'attracting me more to Jamberoo Benedictine Abbey' is that their close lol - only 15min drive from my house! Whereas Riverstone is a good 3-4 hour drive. But I've made it a resolution to pop in and speak to Mother Cyril before Christmas. I had a really strange dream a few nights ago - I had a dream I became a nun and got a visit from God who told me to be a nun lol - it was such a powerful dream but - i woke up. Just a question - is it true benedictines have to take on a benedictine name when they take vows?
Hey GodChild No prob, just PM or email me an address you would like me to send it to and it will on its way : If written contact is a problem tell her so. Most of the letters I get are in plain envelopes<sp> so it should not be a problem. As to email the sisters are only online at the Motherhouse, so Riverstone does not have email. As to Benedictine names not sure but I will be writing to Mother Cyril in a few minutes and I will ask and let you know what she says. Oh by the way Mother Cyril celebrated a milestone this week, she made her first vows this week in 1957, so that is 49 years since then :applause: JMMB, Belinda
bmb144
Hello again everyone, Well I just got the Christmas "Tyburn Talk"! And got blown away by it. This year Tyburn Riverstone celebrated 50 years in Australia . But what really blew me away was the story of one of the founding sisters, Mother Mary Christina. She was a very ill women and the congregation made a novena on her behalf that if she was cured she would be accepted as a postulant. Well yes she started her postulancy in 1948 at....get this......66years old!!!! And was one of the founding sisters of Tyburn Riverstone at 73 years old....... Nothing is impossible with God! The entire jubilee year for them has been wonderful. There is not enough space here to tell you all that the newsletter says but they are having a wondeful time. So that is my current update. Me I have just recently celebrated my 1st anniversary of my reception into the church so another barrier is gone. I just have to have an operation and sort out some other issues and things will progress further. So have a Happy Advent and catch you all later. Oh by the way, I have a number of Tyburn Vocation packs that would love a new home, so if anyone is interested in knowing more about them please PM me and I am more than happy to post one to you where ever you are Later, Belinda
Just a question - is it true benedictines have to take on a benedictine name when they take vows?
No the name is not always a Benedictine name. I spoke to Mother Cyril this afternoon and she let me know that its is not always the case :
