Tyburn Riverstone, Here I Come......soon!

Hi all,

Before I start this I would like to thank Sr Mary Catherine for her help. (email on its way to you) While Summit looks great.....its some of the best vocation material I have ever seen :D:, I feel more Benedictine than Dominican.

After chatting with Mother Cyril (Prioress of Tyburn Riverstone), I thought I would start my own count down and share with all of you some of the life in Tyburn.

Instead of being measured in weeks or days I'm doing mine by the amount of money needed for me to make the trip so currently I need-

$240 AUD which is-

$178USD
$142EUR
96GBP
$202CAD

I have $60 AUD and all up I need $300 to cover traveling costs there and back, so that is how I am measuring it.

My trip has a two fold purpose, the first part is to become an Oblate novice and receive the oblate scapular, and the second part is an abridged 'come and see'.

I hope to be there for 6 days :drool: but I am having some trouble convincing my mum....who does not want me to go at all. :sadder: But if God wants it to happen it will so I am leaving it in his hands.

So now to Tyburn or more properly- Adorers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Montmartre OSB.

Tyburn has 9 houses around the world, London, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Peru, New Zealand, Ecuador, Colombia and Rome.
Rome is the most recent foundation and is a stones throw from the Vatican and yes they have a guest house...... :) , so if you want to go and see Rome there is the option to stay there :D:.

The work of Tyburn is-
"to glorify the Most Blessed Trinity"

which is expressed as-

i) the daily participation in the Holy Mass;
ii) the choral celebration of the Divine Office;
iii) the perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed in the Monstrance;
iv) daily prayer for the Holy Father, the Church, the country & for the entire human family.

Ok that is enough to start with.
I'll be scanning some pics in the next few days as they recently had a final profession and I am sure you guys would like to see them. They also have a fairly new novice and I have pics of her as a postulant and novice, so I will get those up asap.

Thank you :D:

The money side I am not worried about....its up to God to do that.....so I just put a certain amount aside each pay and watch it grow.

I'm setting up a photobucket account that will have picks in it should be able to access it in the next few days.

The outside of Tyburn Riverstone.

I should have some more pics soon. Mother Cyril said she would send some, but it has most likely slipped her mind, so when I write to her today I will ask.
Thanks to all who have looked.

UPDATE!

Well I now have $104.00AUD. (78USD, 62EUR, 88CAD, 41GBP).
So that leaves $200AUD. (151USD, 120EUR, 80GBP, 170CAD).

I also have some clothes and a bag on "layby" that I am paying off for the trip, so I am about a third of the way there. :D:

In the next couple of days I am going to try and scan some more pics, but in the meantime here are a few more from their vocation material-

Well its certainly been busy at Tyburn of late...... :P:

Riverstone has had several women "live in" and earlier this week Sr Adriana entered to start her postulancy. Another young lady has lived in and fitted very well but has not made a final choice as yet.

Rev Mother Cyril has sent me a book that I will be scanning the pics from and has some information on the order which I will post over the coming weeks.

Also if anyone here would like a vocation pack but may not be comfortable in approaching the sisters let me know :D:, just PM me. I am happy to send them on to any of you anywhere. Mother sent me a number of them and is happy to send more, so don't be shy :blush:

Anyway better run, catch you all later.

JMMB,
Belinda

Oh yes please :cool: if you have some vocation material I'd be interested in it. I'm gonna call Mother Cyril about a live in early next year [about january / february]

I'm a little scared of having 'written' contact with the sisters as last time my parents saw 'Tyburn Priory' along the front of the envelope they went :wacko: :maddest: :wacko:

Do you know if the sisters in Sydney have an email?

Just one more thing - the thing 'attracting me more to Jamberoo Benedictine Abbey' is that their close lol - only 15min drive from my house! Whereas Riverstone is a good 3-4 hour drive. But I've made it a resolution to pop in and speak to Mother Cyril before Christmas.

I had a really strange dream a few nights ago - I had a dream I became a nun and got a visit from God who told me to be a nun lol - it was such a powerful dream but - i woke up.

Just a question - is it true benedictines have to take on a benedictine name when they take vows?

You know, I enjoy surfing a number of Benedictine websites, but I can't say that I have ever noticed more "Benedictine" names. You will probably find more Gertrude's :sadder: , Emma's :idontknow: , Hildegard's :pinch: and Walburga's :wacko: in a Benedictine house than in other orders, but I think the sisters are not restricted in that way.
