the_rev
Ok. The priest says, "Now we join with the Angels and Saints in singing a song of praise to our God" Or something like that! Well my question is how do we know the angels and the saints are singing the Holy Holy Holy song. Is there doctrine to support that, or something, I seem not to find it thank you! cappie
the first half of the acclamation 'Holy ,holy, holy Lord God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory", comes from the synagogue prayers (Chapter 6 of the Book of Isaiah). The second half of the acclamation, 'Blessed is he who comes from the name of the Lord', was the greeting given to Jesus by the people when he entered Jerusalem for the last time before his suffering (chapter 21 of Matthews Gospel) The 'hosanna' is an exclamation of joyful trusting welcome. There are also references in the Book of Revelation to the heavenly liturgy with the angels and saints.
