There was once this chick in front of me who was in the Confessional and I could hear her crying... it took like 10 minutes... and I was late for a freind of mine's party...

Too bad for you. Arrive earlier next time.

I have to agree. Being late for a party isn't a big deal. Forgiveness of sins WAY outweighs parties. 10 minutes isn't that big a deal. I get annoyed when its like 20 or 30 minutes.

One of biggest peeves is when I've been waiting in line for 10-15 minutes, and there's no one in the confessional.

I've had that happen! I wasn't annoyed but I felt like a moron for waiting when there was no one there... usually it was because the priest forgot to turn the right lights on and off... things like that, so not really my fault, but still, you feel silly. lol

I can walk to my church, so I am always there for confession. Thgere's not much room for a line, so we just sit in the pews, and it usually goes pretty well. But some times it doesn't go so smoothly. A few times I having been moving toward the confessional (with my list of sins tuckked in my purse) and some blue haired old lady who JUST walked in the church walks in before me (you know the type, is there to enter church before the priest gets there, goes to mass every day, confession every week, does CCD and was forgiven their sins by Jesus Himself when they were young, not exacly the mortal sin bank) usually I just let it go, I mean, I dont want to add to my sins right there, but sometimes they take FOREVER! I just try to offer up the times I am late for things.

One thing that DOES kinda nex me though is the penances I am given. My priest usually does a 'one Hail Mary one Our Father' thing, and I feel like theirs more I could be doing to thank God for His forgiviness of my sins, you know?

I don't usually care, except when I know I have been really horrible, because then a long line gives me more time to dwell on my sins and get nervous about saying them aloud.

Last week I was not what I will call annoyed, but definitely impatient and anxious. I was the cantor for 5;15PM Mass, and I needed to go to confession before Mass, so I got in the line just after four...normally more than enough time to get through the line, make a good confession and be in the sacristy no later than 5.

Well, last week there were many more people than usual in line before me, and they all seemed to be taking a while. I hate to say it, but I rushed my confession a little bit because I was worried of being late and having the organist freak out. I said all I needed to say, but I was fast about it. I didn't want him to come down frantically try to find another cantor when I was right there. I got to the sacristy on the dot of 5, and the organist called me about 30 seconds later. (We have a phone in the choir loft that rings in the sacristy and vice versa)

I have been in this situation before...sometimes just one day a week for an hour is not enough. I guess, now I learned I have to time it out right and find a different time to go. Just pray for patience. :) And if it is a grave sin you need to confess, call a priest right away. :)
