zunshynn
So, you all may remember me telling you about my friend Enrique that drowned last Friday. Well, his funeral is this Saturday, and alot of people that knew him from school will be going... which I think is a good thing. The only thing is, most of them are not Catholic, and I'm a little worried about communion... Most of them probably will not really know what's going on (the Mass will be in Spanish, btw.) and probably would just go up to communion because that's what everyone else is doing. (Of course I suppose that happens, unfortunately, pretty regularly at any mass). I don't go to this parish, but I doubt they make announcements explaining the communion rite, and I just don't know what I should do, if anything. thessalonian
You might politely explain that "If you are not Catholic we respectfully ask the people you know personally that you do not partake of communion.". We must defend our Lord even if that makes us uncomfortable. I would perhaps call the pastor and tell him you know many non-catholics will be attending and request that he make a statement. Beyond that take no action during the Mass. Edited September 28, 2006 by thessalonian

zunshynn
Yeah, I just knew there would be no way I could explain this to everyone that was going. But thanks for the advice, I did call the parish and the lady said she would make a note for the presiding priest, and that he usually does announce that. Jesuspaidtheprice
Charity, in any situation goes far. Many Christian groups practice closed communion so it should be understood.
