Aloysius
they shouldnt be able to... pawns can only kill diagonal... they always move diagonal in a kill (even in en passant) if you want to know something about chess rules, wikipedia tends to be quite a good resource according to the following syllogism 1 nerds run the net (premise) 2 nerds run wikipedia (from 1) 3 nerds know chess chess (premise) 4 wikipidea is a good source for chess info (1+2+3)

Aloysius
show me where? en passant is this: if a pawn uses its initial double-move passing over a square where another pawn was attacking, then that pawn may still kill the other pawn by going to the square (diagonal) where the pawn would've gone if it had moved one. the pawn always moves diagonal to kill.. in en passant it moves diagonal to kill a pawn beside it. [/quote] well dude in dusts game if there is an enemy piece two spaces in front of an unmoved pawn you can kill it
rkwright
Al is correct... phatchess just has some extra 'hidden' rules... My king got killed by a pawn who was directly in front of him earlier today, and then I continued to play without a king
