Catherine
I'm sure the prayers didn't go down the drain. They went to somebody I'm sure. Lesson learned. Be careful what you believe.
Thy Geekdom Come
I had a sinking feeling something funny was going on after all those people showed up with that one IP addy, but I didn't have the nerve to "offend a grieving mother." Thanks for telling us what was going on, Eddie. Most assuredly some soul benefitted from all our prayers.

homeschoolmom
good question. It is frustrating, however, that people spent a LOT of time and effort trying to figure out who was killed.
Theoketos
Well my New Testament class got to go to the Chapel and pray because of this today...
zunshynn
oy. Some things definitely did seem to not add up, like all of those sns sounding an awful lot like Eddie, and him being the only non-lurker... and the phatmasser thing... and the obituary not seeming like a very normal one... but oh well. I was certainly praying a lot yesterday and today. I'm sure God will make sure they go to the benefit of someone who does need it. But it kind of does make you think... about the PMers who suddenly stop posting, and you wonder what's going on with them. I mean, that could happen to any of us. And it does happen to people way more than it should. That's certainly not funny or inconsequential...
heavenseeker
that was a prank? not very funny if you ask me. I'm glad that no one died but not happy about the "prank"
KnightofChrist
While the prayers prayed by all of use were not a waste, no prayer ever is... I do not find this "joke" at all funny, now you see I am or no wait, could be dieing. My whole life its the same thing, you probably wont make it to 12, you probably wont make it to 16, or 18 or 21, now its 28... I've always had heart problems and always be given bad news and proved it wrong, but things are getting worse... And it just really really angers me that someone would make jokes of such things, now if my mother, sister, or girlfriend who I told about the "killed" phatmasser and they prayed for him too, anyhow if they post my Obituary if it comes to that pray God it doesnt, but if that did happen now people are going to have little doubts in the back of their heads, and think twice before praying for me. I do not find this "prank" funny at all, its a awful and cruel thing to do to all of my great and wonderful phamily, God have mercy on the Jokemaker's soul... goldenchild17
Is it really wrong that I find it kinda humorous? I mean, the prayers didn't just get swallowed up in hell. Although it was something pretty irresponsible, I don't think anyone got hurt. (Correct me if I'm wrong; maybe I should just be upset, but I'm glad this tragic death never happened)
Glad I'm not the only one. The second I read this thread I busted out laughing. I think I woke my roommate. . Of course someone, many people died that night and every night of the same kind of accident. But this just was I dunno. Maybe I'm a sicko I don't know. cmaD2006
This is sad ... *but* the good thing is I bet you someone in purgatory or close to death really needed the prayers; so that's why the Lord really permitted this whole thing to happen. I will pray for Adam. -- Carmen
Mary-Kathryn
I was sure you had passed because of the mention of the Abbot from the Benedictine Monastery. However, I am very glad you are still among the living. Don't be too hard on your Buddy. Alot of boys have never had a steady male influence so there's bound to be challenges. Prayers for all those teens who are injured by drunk drivers, Mary-Kathryn
Laurentina1975
It's not cool to fake a death. Whomever that was needs some serious psychological help. They must like to seek attention for themselves. We should pray for this tormented soul. That is so sad.
prose
I thought maybe it was a fake. But I was of the opinion that it is better to trust than not. When I found out that bishop had other plans that day and that there was no obituary fitting that one in the area that the bishop lives, I figured it was only a matter of time until the truth came out.
