I did wonder how his mum would have known that we refer to people who come to pm as "phatmassers"....

I thought this line sounded weird:
PG has beaten all odds by having a Catholic funeral mass to be celebrated in the auditorium of a public school.
Were they taking odds in Vegas on whether or not he gets a funeral in the auditorium?

I am glad that this isn't true - and thank you, Ed - for letting us know.

We can't forget, though, that somewhere that night a kid did die from a drunk driving accident, and somewhere a whole family, group of friends and community is in shock and grief. And somewhere, someone's soul has been marked by a mortal sin, and someone's soul has been lifted into the waiting arms of God. I often say a Rosay with random intentions..like "this is for the person that was just diagnosed with cancer," "this is for the person that is considering an abortion," "this is for the person that is drunk and is walking out to his or her car," "this is for the parents that will find out tonight that their child is gone." Like someone else said, I don't think our prayers just floated out into space either....I believe that Our Lord was so delighted with our response and concern that He saw that and directed them to the appropriate place and person. We were all praying even though we didn't know who it was, but again, as someone else said, God did.

And maybe, I'm wondering, if Ed's young friend needed the prayers himself and could think of no other way to ask for them...

What I find completely horrendous is I did a google search for drunk driver killing a teen in September and found a young 19 yo girl who was killed in South Carolina while doing a charity bike ride a few days ago.

And some people think it's funny or inconsequential?

There's no point in being angry about something like this. We can just be glad no one was really hurt. Obviously, the kid needs help and hopefully, he'll get it. It's not funny or inconsequential to me, but no one was really hurt. So, I think we should just forgive him and move on.

Blessings.

yeah, and I seriously doubt that anyone here finds such things "funny or inconsequential". :(
