I generally am very ready to jump on the Pope for anything, HOWEVER, I think he needs to GET STRONGER, not wiffle waffle on this one, by giving in to the [mod]edit[/mod], they will be emboldended and make things even worse than they already are.

Benny should say "I called you a violent religion, and YOU ARE, just look at your actions these past few days. We will never forget when Muslims SACKED the Vatican in 864, and when you stormed over and burned all our churches in North Africa, and from Sryia to Vienna, let alone Spain. Enough is enough, you want to tangle, good, I got me a billion adherants, and its is about time we declared a "Fatwa on YOU for a change" I hereby grant a plenerary dispensation from all sin and purgetory to any Roman Catholic that shoots an Imam, or torches a Mosque, anywhere in the world. And we start with the Mosque just down the road from the Vatican, this sunday, and I WILL LEAD THE MOB!"

If he had the cajones to actually do this, the [mod][/mod] would do what they always do, run and hide.

A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia's powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to "hunt down" and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.

Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie's novel The Satanic Verses.

"We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion," he said in Friday evening prayers.

"Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim," Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.

"We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope," he said.

Reached by telephone on Saturday, Malin confirmed making the remarks that were echoed in less strident form by other senior clerics in the Supreme Islamic Council of Somalia (SICS).

Another SICS executive member, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullahi, vented similar anger at the pope's "barbarous criticism" but stopped short of calling for his murder.

"He must apologise because he has offended the most honorable person who ever lived in the world," Abdullahi said.

The German-born leader of the Roman Catholic Church has been condemned in the Muslim world for comments he made at a Tuesday lecture, in which he implicitly denounced links between Islam and violence, particularly with reference to jihad, or "holy war."

The pope also quoted a 14th-century Byzantine emperor who said innovations introduced by the Prophet Mohammed were "evil and inhuman."

Somalia, a Horn of Africa nation of some 10 million mainly moderate Muslims, has been wracked by instability for the past 16 years but has recently seen the rise of fundamentalist Islamists who seized the capital in June.
maybe not go THAT far... but what difference would it make to you if one 'false religion' were to go to war with another false religion?

Hey now....., let's not knock Eutychus tooooo much here....
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

honestly, I'm just curious. at every turn as I attempted dialogue, he seemed to refuse to accept anything in common. perhaps he can find this in common with us: western civilization, Christendom, needs defended from islamdom. perhaps he can admit Catholicisim is closer to the truth than islam, if nothing else... perhaps we can finally find some common ground and understand we both believe in Christ and the Scriptures and these are important similarities from where we must begin all dialogue.

I don't mean to hijack the thread though... the catholic peaceniks (haha just kidding folks) can commence discussing why crusades can't happen in this day and age and Era Might can come in with a reality check that benedict's whole point is a point of peace and that he'll never do anything remotely similar to what is described above... then perhaps some american catholics can come in and discuss how the proper course of action would be for the pope to lend complete support to George Bush... et cetera et cetera...

I just thought this might be an interesting way to reach the much obfuscated common Christian Heritage that we share with Eutychus in discussion about our common enemy

Benny declares war on them like the Popes of Old did....push the [mod][/mod] back to Mecca, put a ditch around the country, and Nuke Mecca if they try any more of this nonsense around the world. This is WAR, they declared it, so we either fight to WIN, or have perpetual war until Revelation 22 comes.

I join RCIA the next week.

Here is the Mosque of Rome....

the LARGEST Muslim mosque in all of Europe...and it is right smack dab in the middle of YOUR TOWN benny, why is this allowed whey THEY are burning YOUR churches right and left in the Middle East?

How about some "payback time?"

That pisses me off.

If anything happens to the Holy Father because of this, I don't know if I'll be able hold myself back either.

What pisses me off the most is that the too much of the Church's youth would not be willing to defend. The KoC's are too fat and old to ever defend the Church like they created to do. We need more young men in the Knights to revitalize it and make these threats stop and realize how big we actually are.

If Benedict Apologizes tommorow, it will be a humilating defeat for Catholicism, and western Civilization in general.

I'd disagree there... I think the youths of Catholicisms would be the first to rally to arms... I've had discussions with friends about this...

First, we must take over Italy to help house us.

And he will not apologize for his words. At most, he will (and think has) say that he did not mean to offend.

I'm glad that your friends are that Catholic, but you and your friends don't exactly represent the population of Catholic Youth in the World. I wish they were more like you are describing, but I'm refering to the minimum mass-goers all the way to the Chreasters who all need to be inflamed from their lukewarmness. Catholicism is the largest religion, but not if we're not united. Take, for example, the World Youth Day events. There are so many youth that go to them, and being at a WYD, one might assume that most of the Catholic Youth are actually into their Faith.

Everyone this is Bible Prophecy in action as well...

Here is the prophecy about Islam...

This was the prophecy given about the descendants of Ishmael: Islamic people...

Has come true hasnt it?

Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand [will be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

I believe a war between civilizations is in Bible Prophecy as well with our wars and rumors of wars right now.

Benedict has apologized well sort of...Islamics dont seem to have accepted it.

Pope 'sorry' for offence to Islam

In a statement read out by a senior Vatican official, the Pope said he respected Islam and hoped Muslims would understand the true sense of his words.

In Tuesday's speech the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said the Prophet Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things.

The remarks prompted protests from Muslims around the world.

The Holy Father is very sorry that some passages of his speech may have sounded offensive to the sensibilities of Muslim believers

Political and religious leaders in Muslim countries criticised the remarks and called for the pontiff to make a personal apology.

The BBC's Christian Fraser in Rome says the speed with which the Vatican has reacted shows just how seriously it views the situation.

Reading the statement, new Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone said the Pope's position on Islam was in line with Vatican teaching that the Church "esteems Muslims, who adore the only God".

"The Holy Father is very sorry that some passages of his speech may have sounded offensive to the sensibilities of Muslim believers," the statement said.

Turkey concerns

Our correspondent says the statement goes as far as it can towards an apology.

But the Pope is known to have strong feelings about the relationship between religion and violence and is unlikely to retract the sentiment of his speech.

There will still be concerns about whether to go ahead with the Pope's planned visit to Turkey in November, our correspondent says.

Some commentators in Rome have suggested it may be useful for his lecture to be translated into Arabic, so that people can make their own judgement and see for themselves in what context the quote was made.

Reactions to the speech have come from such leaders as Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, who said efforts to link Islam and terrorism should be clearly opposed.

Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the Pope should not underestimate the sense of outrage felt by Muslims.

But German Chancellor Angela Merkel came to the pontiff's defence, saying the aim of the speech had been misunderstood.
