KnightofChrist
No, it is the proper name of God in the Old Testament. Jehovah (Yahweh)
Aloysius
it's a mistranslation drawing from 1) the tetragamom, the four letter unpronouncable name of God (YHWH: yod, he, vau, he) and 2)mixed with the vowels for Adonai, the word for Lord, which were often written into the margins of the text to remind those reading to substitute the word 'adonai' so that they did not blaspheme by pronouncing the sacred name of God
DAF
I know the etymology, but why does Budge use it?
Thy Geekdom Come
I know the etymology, but why does Budge use it?
I believe that's probably because it appears in some commonly used Protestant translations, despite the fact that it's a made-up term and certainly not something God told us to call Him.
