desertwoman
It seems as if oral tradition is shunned upon in modern western society, and written tradition is more "reliable." Why is this? The reason why I'm asking this is because Catholicism embraces oral and written tradition, while we only follow the penned word. Is this a cultural thing, or do you think that it happened because of the age of Enlightenment/Reason?

desertwoman
Have you ever heard of the game chinese whispers? This is a game we use to play in high school to keep people from following rumours and so forth. The last person would repeat something completely different from what was originaly said.
