The ancient Jews were commanded to partake in the tithes with their priests and if the harvest was too great to transport to the temple they were to sell it for money, and give it to the priests, butthey were also to, in summary, throw a party and include strong drink. And in Malachi, were not the Jews told that if they tithed, God would bless them materially? At least that's what some of the health and wealth people always keep saying.
