megamattman1
why do we need to be regenerated then norseman? and if his quote is correct. (got me thinkin, thanx norse) then we need to be regenerated so we can learn to stand on our own without (well less and less of) God's soap and water. "Cleanse me father for I have sinned." I don't see a problem with this, does anyone else? (especially protestants)
Circle_Master
I would propose the scenario as this. Adam before fall = Dodge Intrepid - good running condition Adam after fall = no wheels, or gas, or engine - only a frame Christ before resurrection = no wheels, or gas, or engine - only a frame, yet somehow manages to work fine Christ after resurrection = 1965 Jaguar E-Class - perfect condition Us before regeneration = no wheels, or gas, or engine - only a frame Us after regeneration = 1965 Jaguar E-Class engine has been put into our frame, we have the new tires, and we now have gas. Unfortunately it is still in a busted Intrepid frame - so we can't go great, but now we can move Us in heaven = 1965 Jaguar E-Class - perfect condition

And to God's forgiveness of sin? (meaning taking away of sins completely, not just a judicial declaration) or see my other post. http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?showtopic=5738
Circle_Master
regeneration is once and for all. (John 1:12-13; 3:3, 5, 6, 7; 2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:5-6; 1 John 2:21; 3:9; 4:7; 1 Pet. 1:3, 23; Ezek. 11:19-20) sanctification is an ongoing process - realizing the work of regeneration. See Romans 6 for how we are dead to sin now, and we must realize it.
Norseman82
why do we need to be regenerated then norseman? To be cleansed of the stain of original sin (and any actual sins we may have committed up to that point). You see, even if a person never sinned in his/her life, he/she still has the original sin of Adam on his/her soul until he/she is baptized (whether by water, blood, or desire). Norseman82
and to sin is to undo that forgivness/cleansing? Well, in the sense that sin gets your soul dirty again just like going through mud will get your car dirty again.

Where does the bible teach this one? I only know one passage which deals with Adams sin and that is Romans 5:12-23.
