onlygrace08
I voted other. It would be really neat but, I am sooo not worthy of such a thing. And, I would only want it if it were God's will

LouisvilleFan
How could any Catholic say no? If Mary wants to visit me she can go right ahead, that would totally rock.
Remember Jesus' words to Thomas: "You believe because you have seen, but I say blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe." I'm among that fraction who voted "no." Did any other Catholics also vote no, or are those 5% from the non-Catholic contingent?
i think you are taking the question out of context... it is not asking a question of faith.. 'IF you saw Mary, would you xyz...' it is just asking if you wish Mary would come down... I believe, and I dare say, the majority of PM 'believes' without having to have a physical encounter with Mary..... but i think we all wish we could......
But if I had a physical encounter with Mary, faith would cease to exist (or be greatly diminished anyhow). That's the point I always felt Jesus was making with Thomas... it's fine if you believe because of a miracle or some other tangible evidence, but ultimately God desires faith -- to love without proof. God could reveal Himself to the whole world right now, but that doesn't mean one more person would love Him.
Seven77
good point LouisvilleFan! to love w/o proof! that's why the Eucharist is such a faith builder. there is no need for faith in heaven... i want to see Mary too. if not here, than there! can't wait! LouisvilleFan
I just heard the story of the miracle Lourdes and St., um, Forgot-Her-Name-Already. Anyway, she received several visits from Mary after praying for a visit for a long time. The head of her convent handed out these scraps of St. Vincent de Paul's habit (which I think became the brown scapular) on the eve of his feast day and instructed them to pray for whatever they desired. So she prayed again for the visit from Mary and received it that night. The whole story is in EWTN's podcast Miraculous Medal and Lourdes, but I thought that was neat to hear after reading this thread and just wanted to share. Chiquitunga
Actually as much as I am into Marian apparitions, my first thought is to say no, because of the great spiritual responsibility it would bring. Such a small percentage of the world is Catholic, and even less, given the gift of understanding about the Sacraments and how we need to be in the state of grace and everything, that I feel the responsibility of that is already very great. To those who are given little, little will be required of them. But to those who are given much, much will be required. I would die to see the Virgin Mary, but this world is so short - we'll see her in Heaven. If it were truly the will of God, I would welcome seeing Our Lady during my life in this world. But no, I would not desire it because of the huge responsibility it would bring. I am so bad at suffering too. I would rather be the blessed who have not seen yet still believe. Also going to Mass and receiving the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of the Incarnate Word is something far greater than seeing an apparition of Mary, if we only had more faith. As St. Peter Julian Eymard says, if the glory we receive in our souls each time we receive the Blessed Sacrament were revealed, we would all be like Moses coming down off Mount Sinai! But in faith, we can be that way!
