[/quote] As a very intelligent Jesuit, he'd be right with us in trying to understand their culture and language inside and out in order to convert their entire culture to Christ. you still don't get it. nobody is defending prayers to hindu gods. the argument is that we don't think they are necessarily prayers to hindu gods. if we thought they were, we'd be right with you condemning them. Ecumenism with the goal of conversion is good. Ecumenism with the goal of making our differences not matter any more is an absolute evil. The Church is consistent here, pre and post Vatican II.
