ardillacid
There was a performing hypnotist here last night for welcome weekend. The stuff people said and did was crazy. I would be afraid i would get kicked out for what I might say. seriously One guy during the "miss america" contest said that he would blow up flooping mexico to bmake the world a better place
Lahecil
LOL Hypnotism has never really been my thing--why have someone else change your state of conciousness when you can do it yourself and keep your money? Irregardless, some of the things that come out of their "victims'" mouths are just hilarious.
ardillacid
The people who did it were members of the audience, and it was all free
Lahecil
LUCKY!!! Any of the ones I've been to/seen/had friends who went have been either really expensive or obviously rigged.
Laudate_Dominum
when I was a teenager I knew a kid who could hypnotize people. It was pretty strange stuff.
Lahecil
Anyone can learn how to do it...most people just need a lot of practice. Supposedly 1 in 5 people are natural psychics.
ardillacid
The reason i thought it was real is because the way the people who were hypnotized acted. It was exactly how my brother acts when he sleepwalks, only more open to suggestions
Laudate_Dominum
yeah, I believe that hypnotism is real (although I'm sure there are fakes out there), but I also believe that it can be spiritually dangerous and it would be unwise to undergo the process. The document on the New Age released by the CDF a few years back would seem to agree with my opinion, as would the likes of Fr. William Most. CrossCuT
I dont like the stuff at all. The only time I would allow it to be done to myself would be for medical purporses.
Lahecil
It's oodles cheaper and more fulfilling to just meditate. And I don't think there are any church teachings against meditation? My dad went to quit smoking. He stopped for about a week or so before all of the sudden he was dying for a cigarette. Of course...that's when he realized there were no refunds. It's all in the mind. And meditation is something that every Catholic should be doing anyway. IcePrincessKRS
I agree qith LD on this one. The possible spiritual dangers of things like hypnotism were something that we discussed in Theology 101. I can be interesting to watch, but I still find it sketchy.
