Tindomiel
Mine's name is Peter. Awesome name... although I didn't name him - my parents did when I was born.
zunshynn
Interesting... I hope mine has a Hebrew name... I must find out. I must confess I've not paid very good consideration of my angel... I must fix that. How do you figure it out? And how do you know if it's male or female? Just a thought that it would be very helpful..especially with kids!
When I typed that, I thought, "Good grief! What help I haven't been using!!!" Believe me, I will be using it this year! zunshynn
Wow! Where did you find these names? Neato spif!
I ran a search for Hebrew names and found a page for helping Jewish parents name their baby. Then I just looked at the least and wrote down the ones that stuck out. I'll have to pray about it. Maybe something will stick out in the Office today.

But I'd hate to give my angel a name like 'Drop-Dead-Fred' or 'G.I. Joe'. I'd have to think about this one. i wouldn't want to give him\her a name wihtout his\her consent. 'Aunt-G-Mima' just doesn't sound right for an angel. I would really have to look for a sign where I was sure my angel was trying to tell me something before I choose to refer to him\her with a name. PS: how do you know if your angel is a boy angel, or a girl angel? Edited August 28, 2006 by Didacus
zunshynn
I read something on Catholic Answers that one shouldn't "name" our Guardian Angels, because they already have names given to them by God, and it isn't in a human tongue. He said we're free to nickname them though, and mention Mother Angelica nicknaming hers Fidelis. Anyway, I nicknamed mine "Elichanan' which means 'My God is compassionate' in Hebrew

MilesChristi
I have no authority to give a name to my guardian angel. God has already given it a name, possibly something that can't be expressed in any vocal language. Humans give names to each other and to their inferiors - Genesis recounts Adam naming all the animals, his wife, and his children, but not any angels. Angels are of a higher created order than we are. Their power and glory are more than we can imagine. Throughout Scripture people react with fear when they encounter an angel, and the angel always has to provide some reassurance like "be not afraid!" When I'm speaking to my angel, I address it as "Dear Guardian Angel." With God's mercy, when I'm glorified in Heaven and sharing in the Beatific Vision, my angel and I will be on a first name basis as we rejoice together forever. Until that happens, I'll stick to calling it by its title.
