Guest Guest
I went to church today, and upon receiving Communion, I came up with a question. First, let me say that I have an unshakeable faith in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. But with this faith, I have a question I can't answer. Second, I should probably say this: I can't drink alcohol. Any amount, no matter how tiny, gives me stomach pains. Alcohol just is not welcome in my stomach. Okay, so why is it that when I drink from the Cup at Communion, I get these stomach pains if it is no longer wine? It's something that I can't explain, yet it is bothering me. As a random sidenote, though, I don't mind the stomach pains because it reminds me that receiving Jesus is no easy task...struggles, pains, difficulties, suffering....they're all a part of being a Christian, and it's just fimly reiterated in my receiving of the Blood. Pio Nono
JMJ 8/6 - Transfiguration of the Lord Though the wine has changed substantially into the Precious Blood of Jesus, there still remain "accidents," or those things that are in wine but not necessarily a "part" of wine. For instance, though it is the Blood of Christ, it smells and looks like wine. This doesn't matter, though, as it has become in its substance Jesus' Blood. Hope this helps.
