That's what Protestantism does -- mixes lies with the truth. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but that's what Protestantism was founded on. Luther, Calvin, Zwingli, Henry VIII, et al are all examples of that.

I don't think people in the Emerging Church movement look too keenly upon Catholicism. Their theology is mainly Reformed/Baptist/non-denominational. Some of them are probably just as adamently against the Catholic Church as you are.
