yeah but think of the big cats. like jaguars etc. they cant jump 50 feet in the air either. power to weight ratio doesnt really work like that. for instance, elephants cant actually jump but you would never call them weak.

Good point about the cats. Elephants, I would argue, have some other strength. Probably endurance to pain/trauma, or something along those lines.

Maybe smaller animals are on average just more efficient than big ones. :P Blue whales are, all in all, extremely lame, but look at how much ants can carry.

thanks. well elephants are immensely strong creatures and can do lots and lots of work. for instance the difference between a sports car and a giant mining dump truck. one is arguably way stronger than the other, even if the other one is faster.

The moral of the story is that if anyone ever accidentally makes ants grow to monstrous, or even moderately large sizes, we're all screwed.

Well, I dunno..... I mean, I'm thinking about relative sizes. We are big, which is why we seem strong, but imagine a housecat for instance, being as large as a human and proportionally as strong as a cat. It would be making fifty foot jumps or more, no problem... and I don't think that kind of thing is all that unusual for animals. Not jumping specifically, but have extremely developed reflexes and proportional strength.
You may have a point with endurance running, although I don't know enough about any particular animal to comment about their endurance.

Leopards and cougars are cats that are close to the same size as humans - and are among the world's most effective and deadly land predators. But even they can't jump 50 feet. The physics don't work that way.

As for humans being physically "lame," I'd say human beings are actually capable of physically doing more things than any other animal, and seem specifically created for creating civilization - making and building many different things. The trouble is that something built to do a large variety of things can do none of them exceptionally well. And most animals have built-in weapons, while man makes his own weapons.

They'd die. I'd have to do more research to get the details, but apparently something about arthropod chitin (what makes up their exoskeletons) makes them limited to a certain size in our atmosphere. That's why there are no land bugs beyond a comparatively small size.

Mark of the Cross

Jesus was born of women yet was able to walk on water. A physical being with supernatural powers! After the resurrection he entered the room though the door was locked, but let Thomas feel his wombs thus proving that although he had supernatural powers his resurrected body was still physical. Yes? 'We believe in the resurrection of the body and the eternal life to come.' There is not enough room on this planet for the people that are here let alone all that have lived and besides that it is close to its end unless we do something to reverse the ecological damage which I doubt we will unless it suits Gods purpose to lend us a hand.
Where is paradise? Could paradise be a multitude of inhabitable planets within the physical universe to provide everlasting accommodation for billions of resurrected physical people who can travel from one planet to another in a blink of the eye because of their supernatural powers? Who when their sun burns out can simply be given another?

It is my opinion, which is formed in many years of experience in these issues, that LD has abruptly contracted an especially severe case of Awesomeitis. It is most likely incurable, although if he's unlucky it might go into remission.
