Funky_R
This would seem like an easy question, but how would you explain the Bible to a non-believer? I know people that say "Well, because it's true." But I want to give a better answer than that. Why is it true? Just something I've been pondering on. Thanks, Randall

jswranch
Jesus existed. Jesus called followers. The successors to these followers find some documents written near Jesus' time to be absolutely infallible. These documents have been collected in what we call the bible. (yes they were infallible before the church canonized them) Edited August 5, 2006 by jswranch

DAF
Yeah, you really have to get them believing the historical, more scientific, easier to prove dimensions of the Faith before you can start throwing infallability of scripture at them.

DAF
Yeah, I think my answer was way better. Bu that last one is definitely quote worthy, so: [quote]I'm not that smart. I'm not that educated. I think I'll write a book about it.

GodChild
explaining the bible to a non-believer is perhaps not much good when they are a 'non-believer'. The depth of your conversation will be academic and artificial at best. My experience (as an ex-hardcore atheist) and with others who were non-believers, the best thing is an *experience* of Jesus and God. : Perhaps pray for the non-believer that Jesus will move them and draw them to him. After all, doesn't Jesus tell us that no one can confess Jesus is the Lord unless the Father calls them and chooses to reveal this truth to them? What I'm saying in general, as an x-nonbeliever ... is that without Jesus the bible is just a book and words on paper - an expereince and encounter with Jesus is the way to go . Maybe pray for them ... and when the occassion comes to share the Good News .... pray again and ask the Holy Spirit to help you share Gods word. That's my opinion
