photosynthesis
Get Canadian Diamonds! dont support any African Conflicts!!!!!
Yeah, my boyfriend refuses to buy a mined diamond from Africa because he doesn't want to be supporting De Beers or any of those diamond cartels that support unjust wars or unfair treatment of laborers. Plus, he doesn't want to go into debt in order to get married. We've been dating/courting for 4 months now and believe God is calling us to marriage. We'll probably be getting engaged within the next few months, and the wedding will be around Fall 2007. Yeah, I'm sure a lot of people will be saying stuff like "you barely know each other" but my family likes him and we have the blessing of our pastor. I told him I'd be OK with a sapphire solitaire engagement ring or cultured diamonds and the both of us have done a lot of research about different types of lab-created "diamonds." There's nothing wrong with wanting to buy an inexpensive engagement ring (after all, it's about the sacrament, not the ring) but a lot of websites say that certain rings contain "created diamonds" when really, they are moissonite which is another diamondlike stone they create in a lab. Cultured diamonds and conflict-free diamonds are not cheap. It's actually less expensive to buy a mined diamond. The idea of a diamond engagement ring is actually a novelty--completely the result of a really good ad campaign. Before De Beers started promoting diamonds about 50 years ago, the sapphire was the more traditional stone used for engagement.

Thy Geekdom Come
Here's a link to the ring: Engagement Ring What, do you think I'm CRAZY?! I don't have that kind of money. I'm not supposed to tell how or when I plan to propose...Jen wants to tell people about that. I suppose I can show a picture of what the ring kinda looks like (it's being resized, so I don't have it, but there is an image of a similar ring on the website of the company where I bought it). No one talks about it here, though, or I'll come whap you. Edited August 8, 2006 by Raphael
IcePrincessKRS
Don't give in Raph!!!!!!! JEN is supposed to be the one to show off her ring!!!!! I mean, don't get me wrong, I want to see it, too... but there's something special in flashing off your ring to show everyone and knowing that they haven't already seen it. lol
