Rcia Classes

Could you explain to me what exactly are the RCIA classes and what goes on here? I'm interested in starting the classes but want to get a better idea what goes on before I go talk to the church.

RCIA refers to the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. It's the process by which an Adult would become a Catholic. The Classes are faith education classes that will cover the teachings of the Church regarding faith and morals. They are classes on What Catholics believe and why.

Depending on where you take the classes thay are of better of lesser quality. Regardless of where you take them, I'm sure you will get plenty out of them.

I was actually an RCIA teacher for a year. All I did was start with the readings of the day (it was on Sunday), ask them what they thought about it, got out of it, to find out where they were at. I would then elucidate on the Scriptures in light of Tradition and Magisterium, which usually consisted of a few stories from the Saints and the Catechism, and some other handouts as well.

The style of teaching varies from teacher to teacher, so what I did, someone else may not do. The only real consistency in the RCIA program is usually sound teaching of Scripture, Tradition, and Magisterium, and how they are to apply that in their everyday lives.
