jswranch
Previously, when one asked what dogmas must one believe in order to become Catholic, I gave the response to read Ott and/or Denzinger, though all the dogmas are in the CCC. More recently, I have changed my answer to LUMEN GENTIUM. If one can affirm LUMEN GENTIUM, then they are ready to be received into the church. Is such cange in response correct? Ziggamafu
Doesn't dogma consist of the assumption, immaculate conception, and any ecumenical council declaration with an anathma attached to it?
jswranch
Yes those plus additional. The total is nearing 500. However, if you can believe LG, the rest fall into place. Essentially LG spells out the magisterium as infallible and the body of Christ (which includes the rest of us as the body). If you know the church is the foundation and pillar of truth, then you can except all the other dogmas on authority alone.
