Ash Wednesday
Greetings pham, An amazing thing happened to me today. As you all know I've been having a rough time lately. Yesterday I said a prayer, submitting to God my everything. I asked him to point the way, some sort of a sign -- not out of selfishness asking for proof of his existence -- but purely because I wanted to know WHAT it was he wanted me to do. I felt a lot more at peace later that evening. Anyway, today I was on the tube (London Underground). There was a group of German-speaking tourists -- I briefly noticed one simple looking middle-aged woman sitting across from me, and I think she was with them. I must have looked either pathetic or depressed, or both, because I was just sitting there either closing my eyes, I was feeling a bit tired. I said a brief prayer to myself reminding me to submit everything to God. As the German group was getting off the train, this woman handed me a note. The first thing I thought was "oh great, I guess she's going to politely tell me I have a stain in an embarrassing spot, or my fly is open..." The note she wrote to me said: Jesus loves you. Want you read the bible? (I think she meant to ask "Do you read the bible?") God will help you! God bless you! I was stunned. I looked up at her, we smiled at each other and I mouthed the words "Thank you!" as she was leaving. With the exception of some things that happened around my mother's death, it has been a few years since I've had something like that happen to me -- the last time was a few years ago shortly before going to World Youth Day. It was one of those moments where I realized with great clarity how much God is ALIVE -- and that he and his son and the heavenly family are VERY REAL in our everyday lives, even when it doesn't seem like it. I was so stunned because things like this NEVER happen on the tube. People rarely talk and look at each other, and if there are any notes being handed out, it's for charities or one of those printed gospel pamplets. This was very personal, and very extraordinary. At least to me it was. I was so moved I couldn't wait to come home and tell everyone! I don't know what it all means but I'll find out in time. All I know is that God is there. Even when it doesn't seem like it. So if anyone else around here is feeling down, don't despair. Edited July 28, 2006 by Ash Wednesday

melporcristo
that's beautiful Ash!! I feel that way each time I am apart of a ministry. Last night, I felt the same way when I went to Homeless Ministry in Pittsburgh, PA. I am glad the Lord used this woman as an instrument towards your healing :

Ash Wednesday
Yeah, the weird thing is was that she was looked over at me even as I got onto the tube and sat down across from her. I assumed she was with that group but the rest were standing and she was the only one sitting down nearby them. She followed behind as they got off, like she was just tagging along. So even if she wasn't an angel, she still was a messenger from God, prompted to give me this note (which I will forever keep).
