Brother Adam
I'm posting this here since Phatcatholic first came to me with this idea and the permission from our first professor: For Immediate Release: Catechetics Online will be hosting lectures in the form of online podcasts from various professors of theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, OH. These lectures come from actual classes given at the university. Permission is granted for the use of these lectures. The first series of lectures will be from Dr. Regis Martin. Dr. Martin, professor of theology at Franciscan University, received his STD (magna cum laude, June 1988) from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas (Angelicum) in Rome, where he successfully defended his dissertation, The Suffering of Love: Christ's Descent Into Hell and Human Hopelessness, with Particular Reference to the Holocaust of the Jews. Future lectures may include some of the following professors: Dr. John Bergsma (Theology), Dr. Stephen Hildebrand (Theology), Fr. Dominic Scotto (Theology), Fr. Dan Pattee Ph.D. (Theology), Dr. Scott Hahn (Theology), and Professor Scott Sollom (Catechetics). Link to the future lecture site: http://www.catecheticsonline.com/lectures.html I anticipate the lectures being online for our grand opening date, when we have the professional website template finished on August 31st. I can't even figure out who to write to...all that information is in Italian and I don't feel like looking it all up. :

fearundercontrol
*gasp* Dr. Bergsma! Dr. Bergsma!! Oh my gosh he is sooooo good! I had him for my Old Testament class and just WOW. I wonder if they'd ask Prof. Sirilla (who is going to be Dr. Sirilla soon, if he isn't already) to do it as well. He's also amazing.

fearundercontrol
I haven't had Dr. Martin. The only theology profs I've had are Sirilla, Bergsma, and Miller. Oh and Fr. Frinsko, who I do not recommend for theology. (Some of the things he taught were not correct.) Oh and I also had Fr. Gordon for half a semester, but I had to drop out of the class. (Never take a 300 level class as a first semester sophomore. Bad idea.) I had wonderful, amazing experiences with both Sirilla and Bergsma. I learned an incredible amount and they teach very well. *sigh* I miss that place. Pray for me that I'm able to return in the spring semester of this coming school year!! phatcatholic
i should be obtaining the Dr. Martin lectures, burned onto a CD, on the 3rd. btw, kateri, i can see why his style of teaching may not suit some people. he takes a more meditative / mystical approach. certainly not systematic or thomistic. personally, i think he's a joy to listen to, its just hard to take notes. so, listening to him as a student can be a challenge, but listening to him just as someone who wants to listen and learn and appreciate the dynamic nature of Catholicism is great (which is why his lectures are great to put online). i think this is gonna be a great addition to the catecheticsonline.com website. pax christi, phatcatholic
Brother Adam
Dr. Martin is the perfect teacher to take a class on the Trinity from in my opinion! His lectures are very profound and the class leaves you with a wonderful sense of the Trinity, though any class on the Trinity will, in Dr. Martin's words "utterly fail, even if it was taught by the Apostles Paul himself". My "title" is a quote from that class. We always need help at catechetics online if anyone ever gets bored. Our motto for the website is that no one should remain idle as John Paul II taught us as laity. With no experience necessary you can add pages to our Wiki, add pictures to our religious art gallery, or add stories to our Story Archive. God Bless all of you! ps - Oh, I was going to mention that we do already have a lot of podcasts up, some of them are with pretty famous people on our "Catholic Forum Podcast" page. It is a TV show out of Grand Rapids, MI. My wife and I were both on the show as converts. The host is the DRE at our parish.
