zealousrap
here's my problem...... I need circa $5000 for the fall semester at Franciscan and am at the max for loans...can't take any more out. I also am performing in Massachusetts August 12 need to be there august 11, then from there I fly to Louisiana and perform august 17 and august 19, then fly home and need to be at school august 23 for orientation... plus I need to move into my house in the projects of steubenville before august 11 since I will be on the road till school starts and I need to record a friend who is singing on my cd before august 11 also...she lives in NY and can only record on mondays...and is going to study abroad in the fall so waiting is not an option. and I have other things on my plate too that are keeping me from working...which is inexcusable I know but the fact is I am where I am right now...I felt as if God was calling me to build this Catholic rap ministry this summer so I devoted a lot of time to making my new cd and performing. what I need help with is this.... does anyone know of any Catholic organizations or pro life groups or any individuals that support youth ministry and/or Catholic Music that would be interested in helping me in any way with my situation..I am going to Franciscan University to become a youth minister, and also plan on performing and speaking at retreats etc. professionally. I have a schedule of classes and a house in the projects at FUS...everything is taken care of except the last chunk of tuition. If anyone can help or has any suggestions please let me know. DAF
I had a friend in your situation. What he did was he was just honest with his audience before or after a show, and just told them that he needed mega help. By the grace of God he got what he needed. (You may have also seen Screech from Saved by the Bell running around on various morning talk shows pedalling his t-shirts. He was going to lose his house if he couldn't raise like 50k, so he made up shirts that said "I helped save screech's house" with his face on that back and sold them for $15 each. To my knowledge he's doing alright) sorry I couldn't be of more help, in Christ P.S. Why don't you just ask people around Steubie? You know that like everybody there would do what they could to help you out. Edited July 21, 2006 by DAF
fundy_mental
I hope things work out for you God has a funny way of helping us in situations like this especially as you are doing his work. I will keep you in my prayers!
daugher-of-Mary
The knights of columbus are pretty good. Also, it may take a little humility, but try the Rosary group or whatever organizations exist within your parish run by elderly women! They're great about helping out. If you can't afford this university, try another less financially staggering one. Get that boring job, finish your education and put the music ministry on hold for now. Please do not kill yourself with all the useless what-ifs. I guarantee you 20 years from now if you mess up your education there will be alot harder and more "what-ifs" in your life than the music ministry ones. ~yeah, I'm a mom...did it show? Norseman82
Marry a rich Catholic girl. Seriously, I'm one of those people who went the route that Mary-Kathryn suggested, so the "corporate guy" in me can only suggest to network with the other rap artists on the board here and see if they have any advice to offer. Also, have you produced any CDs yet that are for sale? Maybe people here would buy them if they are for sale. Also, here is a link to Spirit Juice Studios; they produce a show on Relevant Radio on Sat. nights. I know they are Phatmass-friendly since they have a link to Phatmass and to the Aftermass website. Also, wherever you travel, try to seek out the young adult ministry in the diocese/archdiocese; they may have some advice or networking opportunities. It may not help you right now, but it could build the base for future endevors if this is something you seriously pursue in the future. Worst possible scenario, you have a few years to get better to do what you want to do with the music.

zealousrap
thanks everyone for the comments.... I talked to a priest about it tonight and I feel more on fire for my vocation to youth ministry than ever before. He basically told me that the world would tell me to do everything except what God has put on my heart...and would harden the hearts of those around me to prove that my vocation is true. I would rather be in debt for the flash of lightning length time I am on earth in exchange for sending souls into everlasting paradise. I feel that youth ministry is my calling....perhaps I came across too much with the music. I feel that God will use me to speak and I am open to him using my music as long as he wills it, but first and foremost I feel called to youth ministry. To be honest, that is what my music is all about anyway, youth ministry. Franciscan U is where I started my bootcamp and training for youth ministry...I am going to be a junior, so I'm already about half way through. I have much joy and peace in my heart about where God is calling me, and have complete faith that he will provide me with enough to get by...I don't desire any more than that. I will do anything and everything I can to answer his call for me. Nothing else matters more to me than that. the dude suggested I do a paypal link for donations...well I don't know how to do that but I can say that my paypal is my email address: zealousrapmusic@yahoo.com I am pretty sure if anyone who has paypal wanted to donate anything they could with that info you just click send money and put in my email address with the amount etc. I don't know if this will amount to anything but I am laying this in Christ's hands Thanks everybody AMDG, Aaron
