How were the persons of the religion of the Old Testament freed from Original Sin?

Those who were born before the Event of Christ's Life, Death and Resurrection ( I do not know a better Example then the Immaculate Concepton, Glorious Theotokos, Mary Most Holy, who all generations call blessed) were saved by the same grace that by which we are/will or might be saved. (I do not know a better Example then the Immaculate Concepton, Glorious Theotokos, Mary Most Holy, who all generations call blessed.) I have oft heard the term the Metaphysical Importance of the Cross is greater then the linear procession of time. Further, we must always hope for the Baptism of Desire in those that I have not heard the Truth proclaimed to them because of our short commings.
