afdchick
My boyfriend is Catholic and had an invalid marriage a few years ago. They had a daughter and she is now 10. She has received her First Communion and goes to church with us. He just informed me that she has never been baptized in the Catholic Church. When she was born he and his wife had been going to a Methodist church and she had a methodist baptism. I told him she should get baptized in the Catholic church ASAP! I had NO idea she wasn't. But I don't think he thinks it's necessary for her to get baptized. What exactly needs to be done here? I'm worried he thinks I'm being too critical. But I really think she should be baptized. Help! cappie
You wonder about the quality of the Sacramental programme...here we always ask for a baptism certificate so we sort out any problems. In Australia the baptism of the Methodist church is recognised as a valid baptism and so a child baptised in the Methodist church whose parent wished to have their child make their communion in the Catholic church would have to be prepared in the usual way and would be received into the Church at the time of First Communion they would not need to be re-Baptised
