cmotherofpirl
His first premise is off, and I quit there. He says he uses the KJV because those translaters were holier men than translators today can be.
Katholikos
I agree with cmom. Any site that claims the KJV is the most accurate English translation of the Scriptures makes anything they say after that questionable. The RSV -- the Protestant translation accepted as most accurate by all scholars -- says in its preface, ". . . the King James Version has grave defects. By the middle of the nineteenth century, the development of Biblical studies and the discovery of many manuscripts more ancient than those upon which the King James Version was based, made it manifest that these defects are so many and so serious as to call for revision of the of the English translation" (p. xi). And, "The King James Version of the New Testament was based upon a Greek text that was married by mistakes, containing the accumulated errors of fourteen centuries of manuscript copying" (p. xiv). There are many good Catholic texts on the proofs for the existence of God. We could start a thread. I'm now reading "Brother Astronomer, The Adventures of a Vatican Scientist" written by a former professor of physics at MIT. JMJ Jay
