Lounge Daddy
...how about a Newt Gingrich and Joe Lieberman ticket? That would rock... ONLY IF Lieberman is pro-life (is he pro-life?)
isilzha
I like Sam Brownback, although he doesn't seem to have a lot of support.
Niccolò
...how about a Newt Gingrich and Joe Lieberman ticket? That would rock... ONLY IF Lieberman is pro-life (is he pro-life?)
Lieberman definitely isn't pro-life(check his voting record), in fact I really don't think he has any positive qualities as far as politics is concerned (other than the possibility that his Independent run could hurt the Dems if the senate is split : ). Gingrich isn't too bad...but I think he has too much baggage (marital problems, I think he's on his third marriage, was caught having an adulterous relationship during the Clinton impeachment proceedings).
I like Sam Brownback, although he doesn't seem to have a lot of support.
Yeah, I really like Senator Brownback aswell, and think he'd be the best Catholic option for the election (other than Santorum or possibly Jeb). His support of the Pres' amnesty plan lost him some conservative support, which is unfortunate.
cmotherofpirl
Sometimes it seems like threads like this are too much name-calling based on parties and the majority's views on certain issues. I have a much more pleasant time looking as all of the issues from abortion to death penalty, to environmental restrictions on industry, social security and health care, etc. On at least one or two issues I must side with liberals on that for the sake of my conscience and the well-being of others. So often things are divided simply by groups, liberals or conservatives, democrats or republicans, regardless of the fact that niether has everything right. Perhaps it is a flaw of a two-party system that we must choose so often between supporting one group or another in the presidential elections, but it is good that candidates are free to not merely parrot the party's views but think for themselves.
You might look at all the issues, but as a catholic the dealbreaker is abortion. I think Rick Santorum and Bob Casey debate on meet the press tomorrow morning. Here in west Michigan, Meet The Press is also carried on WOOD Radio 1300am Sun evening (if any body else in this area is at all interested) also online at www.woodradio.com right before Matt Drudge! isilzha
Although, I'm personally mad at Mike Ditka's wife....apparently she threatened to leave him if he agreed to run for Senate from Illinois back in 2004. He's a good pro-life pro-family Republican as well as a Catholic.
I was ready to vote for da coach, but then he didn't run. Ended up voting for Keyes, people make fun of me for that. Emotion
Personally I believe there are alot of good wholesome candidates with morals running for office. The reason why you dont here about them is because of that, morals. Our country is crazy! People, not all, want senators etc. to run for office who know the law and put it the it "Should be" instead of putting it with the God wants it to be. Our country would be so much better if the laws of man and the laws of god would connect. So, i believe that it never will.
