hot stuff,

Hurting the business is a concern of mine but on that;

If my customers cannot respect what the company stands for, or is based upon (Catholic doctrine), then I would rather not have their business.

There are two parts of a healthy engineering practice; making good work being the first, having good customers is the second.
I am not worried about getting enough volume of work in any case.
Sojourner,

Yes, I agree. Though I cant coin why, it does seem to be dubious. That is why I would incorperate a symbol that would be cryptic or abstract in nature so that it would not be readily evident. The Catholic content would be obvious only if pointed out.

Of course, making money off Catholicism is not my intent (as hot stuff pointed out, it could actually do the opposite), but the reality is that some do just that and to legitimize such a logo I would need to find a way to distance myself from this kind of thing. Any suggestions as to how to go about doing that?

I'd still stay go with your logo idea. People's reactions are subjective, and vary from individual to individual. While Sojourner might find any religious imagery off-putting, I'd probably find it "cool." If the religious imagery is rather subtle or cryptic, as you say, I really don't think it will make a problem. I honestly don't think most people will be particularly concerned with the logo one way or the other. I honestly don't think most people really pay all that much attention to corporate logos. As long as the logo has a general attractive "look" which conveys the right "feel," it'll be good. Being an engineering company, people will generally pay more attention to the name or slogan than what the crow is holding. People who bother to take a second look may find the image interesting or intriguing, rather than offensive, and may inquire about it, giving an opportunity to share your Faith.

That's right Soc, and pretty darn tooting close to my thinking.

I have several times, briefly, talked about my faith at work. In an engineering context, in Canada, I draw more laughs than anything (not a joke). To a point where, my competance has been re-examined at times. (in fairness, this happens mostly amongst peers of my own age group, 25-35 years of age. The older crowd are far more open and respectful). However, my performance at work has always been such that my competence and integrity has always remained well spoken for regardless of my personnal views.

The most 'faith' I managed to spread is more a reputation of being an 'eccentric' than anything else though. Working on it, and I definately have absolutely no plans to hide my faith, wether I'm in the streets, at home or at work!
