Che Guevara

Why do some people worship this man? Do they really believe his communist guerilla warfare garbage was going to solve anything? I really dont understand many people now a days, there are people who are trying to start revolutions all over the world, what do they have in common? "communism and violence". They really think these are going to solve problems. The world really doesnt learn from its mistakes.

Revolutionaries are as old as the sun. How many Jews thought Christ was another revolutionary come to overthrow the Romans?

Mateo el Feo

I think one of the reasons he can be worshipped is because he spent his time fighting as a little guy against "the powers that be." No one remembers his time as an official of the Cuban governments. I think that helps distance him from the human rights abuses of Communist Cuba against any perceived enemy of the state (not to mention the failure of Communism as an economic system).

on myspace and other places I see people with che guevara t-shirts and flags..Many people who call themselves Catholic. There are even some rappers who are starting revolutions with their music, preaching like che guevara, violence and communism..its quite scary.

I agree, why is Che so popular and yet not his long time friend and fellow revolutionary, Castro?? Those guys were side by side in Cuba... I've never seen a Fidel shirt.

The current cult of Che Guevera completely disgusts me.
Che died young and thus became a romanticized figure, a "martyr for the cause."

Castro, the Communist dictator, however, shows the reality of what the revolutionaries were fighting for.
The worship of the Communist Che is an insult to the many Cubans (most Catholic) living in the U.S., having fled the evils of Castro's godless totalitarian regime, waiting to return to their homeland when Castro's reign is ended. I know some of them.

I think all of the trendy young Leftists sporting Che Guevera t-shirts and the like ought to be permanently deported to Castro's "Socialist Paradise." >:(

Seriously, though, I think more often than not it's less a political statement and just an attempt to have a unique, hard edged t-shirt; the same way it's "cool" to have a poster of Scarface.

yeah, real unique - so you can look just like every other mindless Commie-wannabe sheep in college campuses and coffee shops across the country. <_<

As far as political t-shirts go, this has to be my favorite:

And I actually own this one:

Actually, it is cool to have a poster of Scarface. That movie is the bomb!

But yeah, you're right. Most people walking around with Che T-shirts probably know very little about the man and are just trying to be cool.
