Ex-catholics Why Did You Leave?

I asked Bruce S this off topic question on another thread but was asked to start a new one.

For all those who were Catholic why did you leave?

Here is my story:

I used to separate Church from God. I used to think they are all a bunch of money grabbing hypocrites. Until last year, I used to think that a bunch of old men were not going to tell me how to live my life. I stood in the middle of my fellow Christians and said I will kiss no man's ring and any priest who calls me a sinner will get the business end of my boot. I came back by accident (yeah right) and I am consumed by it. I see the real Church for what it is not for what I believed I saw. I’ve met people that I never new existed in my 35 years as a Catholic not because they were not around but because I just could not see them.

God Bless all over.

hyperdulia again

When I left the Church the first time I did so because I found a denom that approved of a sexual sin Holy Church doesn't approve of. Every other time I was driven out of the Church by judgmental loud-mouthed Catholics who insisted that they loved me as they beat me with verbal hammers.

Nah...

Catholics beating others with VERBAL [or text] hammers??!!

Say it isn't so, really?

Overbearing, self righeous people beating you with DOGMA?

I don't believe it! That NEVER EVER happens...

Never.

....er.....

Well, maybe just a little....

Or more than a little?

Or standard operating procedure?

Like here?

Same with Protestants, so don't laugh too much.

We just send you off to another of those SEVENTY MILLION denominations I keep hearing you talk about.

See, you don't even have to relearn the songs, just find out if they roll around with snakes or not, frankly, I want those snakes, they are nicer than Sister Mary Knucklerapper who I had in third grade.

Sorry Bruce, but your efforts are useless. I quite enjoy being an...

Idol worshipping, necromancing, Mary worshiping, cannibalistic, molested victum, blood drinking, bigoting little Anti-Christ supporter.

After all, I did accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior...

Once Saved, Always Saved!

Other than all that, why are you a Catholic?

Hey, I actually DO have a good conversion story, I have posted it around the net and I will try and find it to share.

I actually don't have any trouble with most of this, it is just those appararitions that give me REAL, heebie jeebies. Honest. OK, the dead bodies in glass cases, heck, when I WAS a practicing Catholic trolling around Europe, those stuck me as ODD ODD ODD, worse than the artwork made of piles of thighbones and skulls, do you have any good sites for "Artwork For Modern Undertakers?"

Those things have been a concern of mine forever, and the reaction to even the least believable ones. Perhaps gullibility goes with the lack of discernment, or with too many years of indoctrination.

If Catholics would just unbundle the bizzare from the merely strange, it would go a long way to making the rest of the world LISTEN or even read some of those massive document dumps, that pass for thinking around these parts.

Hey, come with me to a Messianic Jewish service, that one will blow you away, it does my fellow Pentecostals too, they think blowing on the Shofar has addled my mind, perhaps it has.

Bruce,

Ah. I see. You're too smart to be Catholic. Good for you.

Did you see the last few posts on the Loooong thread about the google of protestant denominations? It was an idea to bring some logic and intelligence to the issue and the idea that a non-catholic Christian define what a denomination is (in writing) and use it as a standard to measure the various non-catholic Christian belief systems to see if they are different and should be labeled as denominations, or they aren't different.

Unless Circles and mulls didn't ask for your help.

Two things...

1. That image is pretty cool (I'm dead serious)

2. Does anybody know more information about this image? I know it's some place in Rome, but does it have any meaning?

Circle_Master

Rome Italy

The Capochine Crypt located in a Catholic Church used human bones to make entertaining displays, and it was a real money-maker. One skull had a dried tongue hanging out of it.

that is the image.
