XIX
The title says it all. I'm strongly considering trying to get in touch with my diocesan exorcist (I hear every diocese has an exorcist, but they keep his ID secret?) Also, I'm not so sure that my friend would be willing to let something like an exorcism happen to him/her. So...really, I'm a little lost. I'm just trying to follow God on this one. I do suspect demonic possession, but mostly on a hunch. I'm pretty sure my friend is at least being attacked incessantly by the bad guys. I know next to nothing about possession or exorcists, but could anybody PLEASE PLEASE help me? Thanks guys. PS: I don't know if this belongs on the Transmundane board. If it does, the mods may want to move it there. Whatever works.
morostheos
Talk to your local priest. That is the first step, he will know what to do from there (hopefully). Exorcisms can't be performed without the permission of the person, but your priest may certainly be willing to talk to him if he is willing to talk. Guest T-Bone
Your friend is not going to get a Catholic exorcism. They are not preformed willy-nilly, but only after much spirital and psychological investigation.

I haven't even told you anything about the situation.
Guest T-Bone
Maybe "is not" is too strong a term, but because of many factors, the probability of an exorcism being preformed is so low, it becomes a null event.

cmotherofpirl
Before an exorcism is done, all medical and psychological conditions will have to be ruled out. Start with a priest, but get a complete physical and see a catholic shrink.
jezic
the names of exorcists are protected (usually) so that they do not get a bunch of prank calls and other things.
Old_Joe
Perhaps, your friend should invest in a St. Benedict Medal?

Fides_et_Ratio
Most priests probably wouldn't know (and would probably laugh), and I don't think every diocese has an exorcist-- they SHOULD, but I bet more than two thirds of the US dioceses do not... You could try talking to your bishop, but it would have to be a case of utmost and extreme gravity... Read Fr. Amorth's An Exorcist Tells His Story. Exorcism is a rarity nowadays... and finding an exorcist is hard. This will be something difficult to pursue.

Not every diocese has an exorcist, not every priest takes this matter as the grave situation that it is... still, you should pray and ask the Church to look into this and it is a long and serious investigation into medical and mental records etc. Pray that your friend is ready be sure to post an update on this thread as this continues we are praying
Era Might
How do we know not every diocese has an exorcist if that information is not divulged?
