That is too funny! Did this particular sister keep that name? I dont think I would want to say no to mother right from the get go but man, Soubirous is quite the name! Why not Bernadette lol. I am looking forward to the new name not that I dont enjoy Allison :) I always thought that if the new name came from mother after praying about it like Gemma mentioned (thank you for that explaination!!!), it would be very special, like having another patron saint to guard you on your journey!

Just over a month until my visit!!!!!!!!!!! :topsy:

Just a month? :woot: yay!

Yeah i agree, I think I would trust Mother in the name she chooses through prayer, however Soubirous is alittle.. different ;)

I just looked up an article about the Havana, Cuba monastery of cloistered Dominican nuns, which has been around for some three hundred years -- the monastery of Saint Catherine of Siena.
They have an elderly nun whose entire name in religion escapes me, I just remember the part that comes from the Rosary Mysteries:
she is Sister somebody of Jesus Lost and Found at the Temple with the Doctors of the Law -- !!

Sr. Mary Soubirous or Sr. Soubirous-Marie

Actually very nice.

Sr. Soubirous-Marie of the Divine Healer

Sr. Soubirous-Marie of Christ, the Living Water.
