So you are saying that every pope ever had the Holy Spirit and led the flock correctly.

Correct.

You are saying 0 interpretations have changed on any passage from the Church in 2000 years.

Right again, you're on a roll!

Hades means the "abode of the dead" or, hell. The NAB uses the word "netherworld."

QUOTE Anna

You do not rely on Scripture; you rely on the interpretations of Scripture of educated men and women, and you rely upon your own personal interpretations as well.  However, these men and women had nothing to do with the writing of the Scriptures, nor of its compilation.

QUOTE Circle MasterAye, and neither did your tradition. Your tradition is what you believe has been passed down from the Apostles, and what you believe to be infallible in its teachings.

Our Traditions have everything to do with Scriptures. They compliment the Scriptures, not contradict them. They are mentioned in the Scriptures, and Our Traditions, like the Scriptures themselves, were taught from the lips of Jesus Christ to His Apostles, and passed on to us, His Church.

QUOTE Anna

In the protestant sects, the oldest of which is only about 500 years, there are many conflicting interpretations.

QUOTE Circle MasterThanks, so is there in Catholicism. Except they are "sanctified disagreements" such as evolution. Of course, the Pope could just release a statement on whether the earth was millions or years old or a few thousand... nah.

No Circle Master, the Church does not offer conflicting interpretations. The Church's interpretations are True, clear, and mean exactly what Christ intended them to mean. And, unlike some showmen preachers, the Pope isn't quite so pompous as to pretend that he has all the answers and make pronouncements that are just plain out in left field. He's got a gift. It's called Wisdom. Also Humility. When he speaks with the authority Christ gave him, he doesn't blow a bunch of hot air.

Your tone of mocking is similar to those who challenged Jesus to prove who He was and come down off that cross. You challenge Christ's Vicar to make absurd proclamations in order to challenge the infallibility of the guidance of the Holy Spirit promised to Him by Christ.

Pax Christi. <><

Funny me, I thought you said he was the representative of Christ on this earth and has full apostolic authority, along with Petrine dominancy.

So you assume that makes the Pope an arrogant and prideful man?

I implied nothing of that, I assumed nothing of that, and I said nothing of that. Stop your anti-protestant hatred and read my text for what it is, not what you want to see.

Then what did your statement mean? :skitzo:

that you say he has full apostolic authority, and full petrine dominancy, and Christ's representative on earth, yet he can't exercise any apostolic authority by writing Scripture because he doesn't know enough, and yet still has enough knowledge to rule the entire hierarchy.

From what I know, public revelation has ceased. So there is no use in writing anymore Scripture. Thus you don't see Popes adding more to the Bible.
