First of all, he's just the cook, and I don't think they take a vow of celibacy. Secondly, you have to remember the guy who wrote this film is a devout mormon, so I doubt he would disrespect religion or be the typical hollywood stereotype. Thirdly, just like Napoleon Dynamite, it''s rated PG. Not PG-13, but PG. How many movies have that rating nowadays?

She's a nun, though. She's got vows.

I did re-watch the trailers, and I decided I need to lighten up a little. I think I'd really have to watch the whole thing before I proclaim it as mocking celibacy. It is alarming, though, when he flexes his butt to impress the nun girl. Like I said, I sometimes need to lighten up.

He's not just a cook. He's a priest/monk. He does actually talk about breaking the dude/dudetts oath of celibacy a couple of times.... Oh wait... I'm ruining the movie for you. I'm sorry... not.

DemonSlayer

It seems interesting, but I'll have to read Catholic reviews first before making up my mind whether I'd want to see it or not, since it may be anti-Catholic or mocks the celibacy of priests/nuns.

I'm a Catholic, and here's a review.

Since this movie is going to be liked by the fans of Napolean Dynomite (although much better than that piece of GARBAGE), I decided that it wouldn't be fair to rate it with an open mind. However, it does not bash Catholicism (unless you get very easily offended...).

I am I am, I know I am, I think I am, I feel I am....

"I don't believe in God, I believe in Science!"

"Where are the chips?"
"Some random man stole them from me."
"Did you tell him they were the Lord's chips?!"

"Can I come in?"
"No."
"Why not"
"We don't want people to get the wrong idea about you sister...."
"What are you doing?"
"I was just sleeping."
"With that on?"
"Yes, umm these are my pajamas."

"I thought you said you hated every orphan in the world!"
"I changed, I like them now."

Don't get high expectations for it. That never works well with movies. It was good but will get old VERY SOON after people watch it and quote it to death. This is why i quote it before it comes out..

yeah movies are the same as songs, ppl talk about them forever and then all the fun is took out of watching it untill like 5 months after the hype dies.

Pontifite 7 of 10

Don't monks also take a vow not to fight? That should be a vow if it isn't.

As men of God, I don't think they would fight. Vow or no vow.

he sure looks like a friar not a cook to me.

be careful of this movie... St. Phil Neri was about cheerfulness and laughter but didnt throw prudence out the window. i mean there is a friar wrestler and an attractive nun... can they pull off this movie w/o offending?

ps: yes, Napoleon was basically harmless unless you're a llama or cow but i'm not sure of this Nacho movie..

He is a friar and he is the cook. Yes they did pull it off without affending anyone... Napoleon dynamite was harmul because of how much of a terrible movie it was.
