Please vote before you read the posts... I think.

Let me provide an example to explain my vote:
You take some Jews into your home in Nazi Germany. One day, the SS starts knocking on every door on the street asking for Jews. What do you do when they get to your door? Presume that you know that the SS want to kill the Jews.

Obviously, you shouldn't tell the SS that you have Jews in your house, and you definatly shouldn't tell them where the trap door is. However, lying (or "telling a falsehood," if you prefer) to the SS is not wrong (or a sin) in this case. Why? The definition of a lie is to tell somebody, who has the right to know something, a falsehood. The SS do not have the right to know in this case. Why? The SS do not plan on doing anything good with that knowledge. Anybody who does not plan to use information for objective good (however you may define good, we'll leave that alone for now) does not have a right to that information.

Note: This argument I learned in Philosophy class; hence the lack of anything theological (I've found that philosophy points to and leads to (and is some sort of base for) theology anyways)

The answer is false.
2488 The right to the communication of the truth is not unconditional.
Everyone must conform his life to the Gospel precept of fraternal
love. This requires us in concrete situations to judge whether or not
it is appropriate to reveal the truth to someone who asks for it.
The right to truth is unconditional, but good judgement decides when you have a right to reveal a truth, because you cannot sin against another to do so.
As usual, as with everything else in life, it depends.
