the movie was pretty good.. it was worth seeing, but it definitely was a disapointment for me. i guess i was just so excited to see it and x-2 was so awesome that i expected more. oh well.. thats hollywood for you.

Well, when you exchange the director of X-Men 1 and 2 (Bryan Singer) for the director of Rush Hour 1 and 2 (Brett Rattner), you expect a little drop off. Since I went in doubting Rattner's ability to pull it off, I was pleasantly surprised. Still, it wasn't on the same level as X2 in my mind.

Superman Returns is the real superhero movie for this year. X3's loss of Bryan Singer is Superman's gain.

No sinister IS NOT his dad. He might as well be. Cyclops is an orphan, and technically Xavier's first student. But it was in the orphanage that Sinister did most of his experiments on Scott.

Cyclops dad is Coursair. He was abducted by aliens, and became a space pirate.

But you are very right YMNolan, Cyclops is intricately tied to Sinister, and Cyclops must return in some way or another to make a Sinister storyline good.

Sorry, I thought this movie sucked. No personal offense to anyone that feels otherwise. I should have known better than to place any hope in the idea of a trilogy not being ruined by changing directors. I wouldn't have hated it so much if they had either Ratner do all three, or Singer do all three (my vote goes for Singer.)

To be fair, I loved Kelsey Grammer as Beast and the eye candy special effects and whatnot. But the emotional fabric of this film just really sucked and I wasn't happy with what they did with some of the characters. (To elaborate without giving a spoiler, since when did Wolverine lose his gruffness and inner demon distraction and go all emo on us, anyway? I felt embarrassed for him when he gave that cheesy little "we're x-men!" pep talk... it would be more in character for someone else but not Wolverine given how he was in the first two.)

I don't blame Ratner for not being Singer, I blame the movie industry and bigwigs at Fox for allowing what was to be a great trilogy become, in my humble opinion, ruined, because the whole thing seemed inconsistent and all over the place. If it weren't for my long time love for X-men and masochistic curiosity to see anything x-men even if it's done by a director whose style does nothing for me, any interest I'd have in future X-movies would be ruined at this point. Being my old nitpicky self I could go on and on about how much I hated this movie, but with the exception of now changing my avatar to something else, I don't feel like spending any more of my precious time and energy on this polished turd.
