hyperdulia again

about Ironmonk's post, some of the info at newadvent is out of date it was written 1911, for innstance they say the Maronites were seperated at some point we now through more thorough research know that the Maronites went into hiding to escape muslim and even LATIN oppression, but they never seperated from Rome. New Advent does procide a good working base though.

And about the Eparchies, not all Byzantines are under them. Quite a few have joined the UGCC and there are also quite a few non-territoarial Byzantine Bishops, this is why the UGC Rite of the future at least for the US is so important.

okay, hyper, so I looked up on Orthodox Church in America (OCA) and the church that's in my city is on there. But what you're telling me is that Orthodox church is not recognized by Rome? I'm confused, can you tell?

It also says:

The Protestant churches, as you know, came out of the Roman Church when this body was already separated from the Eastern Orthodox Church. Thus, as one Russian theologian put it in the last century, it is probably true to say that the Roman and Reformed Protestant churches are much closer to each other -- historically, spiritually, theologically, culturally, psychologically -- than the Orthodox Church is to either.

huh? :huh::huh: :huh:

OCA is a unification Church of all eastern Orthodox in the US. It is not in Communion with Rome, you can only recieve their sacraments at times of grave necessity, even though they are valid.

UGCC is a Catholic organisation in union with Rome, working, for the Union of Eastern Catholics in the US. It is all very confusing.

The Orthodox who came back to Rome after the great schism (1054) are the Catholic Eastern Rite Churches. Those who didn't have Orthodox in their name.*

Which in and of itself is misleading because some Eastern Catholics prefer being called Orthodox in Communion with Rome. I think I'm gonna start a thread on the history of the Eastern Rites later tonight. It'll be in the Open Mic.

If you want to keep a few Protestants around "to play with" you might want to understand just how that sounds to others ears....

No one is toying with Protestants.
